I had need of a larger desk

I had need of a larger desk surface, and this fit the bill just fine. I was worried that the rear metal wire routing channel would vibrate or rattle too much to be installed, but it has been solidly attached and does not require damping. A note to those viewing this on Amazon the item pictured may not be the item this article describes. The product I received was in a light-colored maple wood desk top with black supports, and not the cherry with grey that may be shown

here.

_ PACKAGING:

The packaging seemed a bit roughed up from the journey, but none of my desk's components were found damaged. The greatest threat of damage would likely be unpacking it – I suggest cutting along one side length-wise and splitting it open that way, rather than dumping the components out the front or back.

_ QUALITY:

The wooden components are press-board with a faux veneer finish and a slightly rough surface texture (about what you would expect on a drafting table). Unlike cheaper units, this has both the top and bottom of the desk top, rear shelf, and foot board finished. No bare wood here. The metal components are steel, of what grade I do not know, and painted inside and out. They are sturdy and machined well enough that assembly was not hampered. There was no warping of sheet metal and no misaligned screw holes. The rubber edge finishing is well-attached and beveled on the top and bottom – you will find

no sharp edges on this desk, and the finishing will not likely peel in your lifetime. Casters are solid and roll well, two of which came equipped with friction brakes.

_ DIMENSIONS:

From the floor to the desk's top is about 26″. Without the casters would be 22″ if you should want a shorter desk. From the top of the desk to the top of the rear shelf is 11″ with 10 and 1/4 inches of space underneath the shelf where rack units would be installed. The rear shelf is 12″ in depth and 47″ along its shortest length. The rear shelf's thickness is 3/4″. The top's depth at the middle measuring from the front to the back of the desk is 29 and 1/2 inches and 28 1/2 inches as the extremes of the arc on either side. The length of the desk measuring from point to point along the front arc is 59 and 1/4 inches, 46″ along the back. The top's thickness is 1″. The foot board's dimensions are similar to the desk's top,

but there is a about a 26 and 3/8 inch wide hole for one's feet, which extends about 14″ back from the front of the desk's top. The length of the inside gap between the support columns on either side, left-to-right with respect to the front of the desk where a chair would be situated, is 28 and 3/4 inches. With the rear shelf installed, the supports would take up 11 and 3/8 inches of the desk top's surface from the back. This leaves you with about 18″ of space on the desk's top from the front to the rear supports.

_ ASSEMBLY:

You will need a Phillips-head screwdriver. An Allen wrench of the required size is included.

Be careful when using power tools, as this is press-board and will strip easily with too much torque. I hope this information helps.

Overall, I think this is a great workstation desk for those who dabble in electronic music.
